In January 2015, China Telecom iTV Value-added Service Operation Center officially selected Dekscom Co., Ltd. as a partner of OTT video set-top box OTT video service quality assurance service. In this project, the company is responsible for troubleshooting and optimizing the video quality of the smart home iTV Yueme service, effectively supporting the promotion of China Telecom’s smart home business. This service project mainly uses the Deks EVA video analyzer software to perform data capture, protocol decoding and statistical analysis on the iTV video stream on the terminal side of the ME set-top box, which can achieve the following objectives:

1)     Diagnosing OTT/HLS WEB video server has performance problems, including: slow HTTP response time, HTTP 5XX error return code, slow TS broadcast speed, etc.

2)     Diagnosing IP bearer network performance problems, including: network packet loss, insufficient transmission bandwidth, excessive end-to-end delay, repeated TCP connection requests, large number of repeated TCP response messages, and server TCP send window full.

3)     Diagnosing HLS m3u8 playlist errors, including: OTT terminal repeatedly initiates HTTP GET multiple repeat requests for the same m3u8 playlist, TS request timing disorder, TS request interval is too long, TS request error when multi-rate switching, CDN not The problem that the TS segment list update in the HLS live program m3u8 is disorderly and the TS segment requested by the OTT terminal does not appear in the m3u8 playlist can be updated in time.

4)     Diagnose HLS segment coding problem (not conforming to HLS standard specification), including: TS sync byte error exists in TS segment header, program association table (PAT/PMT) is not included in the beginning part of TS segment, TS segment header missing video data Packet or I-frame packet.

In addition, the project will also be deployed in a series of (including BesTV Xiaohong, ZTE, Huawei, etc.) Yue Me OTT set-top boxes, pilot deployment of Dekscom QoS, QoSA soft probe. The soft probe can perform measurement and statistics on OTT user behavior, user experience (QoE), HLS video QoS, EPG QoS, video server QoS, IP network QoS, and terminal performance by performing packet capture analysis on the set-top box network port. According to the multi-QoS/QoE indicator correlation analysis, an expert prompt is given for the cause of the video card fault, and the faults of various CDN video servers, IP bearer networks, and OTT terminals are automatically isolated. The OTT set-top box QoSA soft probe will report the QoS/QoE indicators, alarm events and expert prompts to the EVQM video quality center management platform through the TR-069 protocol, so as to realize the quality-free management, optimization and troubleshooting for iTV services for user.
