EGwSS—EyeNet Home Gateway Surveillance System

Dekscom EGwSS HGU QoS agent monitoring system provides broadband Internet Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) management and troubleshooting from the home gateway and end-user perspectives. Based on multi-level distributed data acquisition and aggregation architecture design, the single EGwSS system can support up to 20 million home gatewayQoS agents for terminal management, data collection and real-time KPI statistics and analysis.

The EGwSS system mainly consists of two parts

(1)  EGwSA QoS agent can be embedded in various type and model of the home gateways. The agent performs real-time passive monitoring with data capture and protocol analysis on the WAN port, so that Internet user behavior can be collected. It also provides various active network and service testbased on thetest command and configuration from the ACS server, so that end user’s Internet access QoE metrics and IP network performance QoS metrics can be measured. The QoE/QoS metrics and events are periodically sent to the EGwSS ACS server andcentral management platform through the TR-069 protocol.

(2)  The EGwSS central management platform collects data and events from a large number of home gateway QoS agents, and then performs KPI statistics and correlation analysis to automatically diagnose the root cause of the Internet service quality degradation and service failure. By this means, the EGwSS system helps the network maintenance personnel to quickly handle broadband Internet user’s complaints by isolating various problems associated with home gateways, broadband access networks, IP bearer networks (OLT/BAS), and content provider’s CDN servers.
