Dekscom Co., Ltd. Released OTT/HLS Video Service Quality Test Solution
On September 3, 2012, Dekscom added OTT and HLS video QoS/QoE test software options to the EyeNet Video Analyzer (EVA) and EyeNet Multiplayer Analyzer (EMA) product lines. The EVA/EMA OTT test solution provides comprehensive OTT/HLS video service quality monitoring and troubleshooting solutions to help telecom and broadcast operators accelerate the development, deployment and promotion of OTT video services. Effectively monitor and diagnose wired and wireless networks. Various OTT video service quality problems in the network. EVA/EMA’s OTT/HLS testing features including:
· Automatically identify OTT/HLS video streams (including URL addresses and video file names) and extract key video information from FLV/MP4/3GP/TS files (eg video file size, program duration, video resolution, audio and video encoding, etc.)
· Play selected OTT/HLS video media streams in real time, supporting MPEG4 and H.264 encoding formats.
· Real-time measurement of QoS indicators of OTT video, such as playback delay, video download rate, download percentage, etc.
· HLS play list analysis and segment rate switching tracing.
· HLS video QoS/QoE measurements, such as lag length and counts, segment download delay deviation, fragment transmission interval deviation, buffer length, etc.
· Real-time measurement of TCP/IP performance indicators of video streams, such as TCP retransmission rate, TCP reset counts, TCP low window, Ethernet throughput, etc.
· History trend diagram can show the time-varying curves of QoS/QoE parameters of selected OTT/HLS media streams, and can correlate and analyze the interaction between multiple parameters to discover the root cause of video service quality problems.
In recent years, with the rapid development of IP networks and applications, OTT (Over The Top) video technology-led network television, mobile video and multi-screen interactive services have developed rapidly. The consumption of OTT video content through smartphones, tablets, PCs and networked television is increasing at an alarming rate. HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) is a new generation of adaptive bit rate OTT video technology advocated by Apple. It can automatically request suitable video quality (i.e. different resolution and bit rate) segment files to the video server according to terminal screen size and available network bandwidth, thus giving users the best visual experience. OTT / HLS video is generally considered as the core technology to achieve multi-screen interaction, and has a wide range of applications.
