Dekscom Co., Ltd. released EVQM OTT video quality monitoring system

On February 28, 2014, Decos Communications Ltd. took the lead in releasing the first domestic end-to-end OTT TV service quality assurance system, EyeNet OTT video quality monitoring system (EVQM). Through EVQM system, OTT video operators can quickly handle various user complaints, locate the specific fault points (including the program source of content providers, CDN server, IP bearer network, OTT terminals, etc.), and optimize the performance of CDN network through various reports provided by the system. The EVQM system includes: EVA probe devices deployed in different locations of the OTT TV network (such as OTT video source server, CDN cache server, IP bearer network); OTT QoS Agent software embedded in OTT set top box/home gateway/smartphone/Pad The ACS server obtains the OTT video QoS data uploaded by the QoS agent module through the TR-069 protocol, and then aggregates the statistics to the EVQM central management server. The EVQM OTT video center management server performs unified management on each QoS data collection device and QoS agent. And correlate the OTT video QoS/QoE data uploaded by them and generate statistical reports.

Industry background

In recent years, with the continuous advancement of domestic triple play reform and the rapid development of mobile Internet, mobile TV and multi-screen interactive services, which are dominated by OTT (Over The Top) video technology, are also growing. The consumption of OTT video content played by smartphones, tablets, PCs, OTT set-top boxes, and smart TVs is growing at an alarming rate. For the paid OTT video service, consumers no longer meet the quality experience of the free online video “best service”. In order to win the market and users in the fierce OTT video competition, operators are paying more and more attention to the quality assurance of OTT video services to enhance their competitiveness. Since the OTT video service needs to be implemented through multiple parties (including content providers, telecommunication or mobile network operators, home networks, and terminal devices), this brings many new difficulties and challenges to the quality assurance of OTT video services, especially in how to objectively measure the quality of experience (QoE) of end users, and to quickly diagnose and locate faults in OTT video service quality. EVQM can well meet the demand for quality management and maintenance of OTT video services by major telecom and broadcasting operators (including China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom and radio and television network operators of various provinces and cities), and has great market promotion prospects.
