Shanghai Telecom chooses EVA-PDA video quality handheld terminal test system
In July 2015, China Telecom Shanghai Branch selected EVA-PDA products from Decos Communications as the preferred tool for more than 2,000 installation and maintenance personnel in the city to investigate IPTV and OTT video quality problems. In this project, Shanghai Telecom plans to install EVA-PDA series of test software (including network test App, IPTV test App, OTT test App) on PDA terminals equipped with installation and maintenance personnel to locate various IPTV, OTT video quality problems quickly. The specific use mode can be divided into the following several situations:
1) For general faults, through the expert system prompting function of EVA-PDA software, the installer and maintenance personnel can roughly locate the causes of the faults in the user’s site (distinguish the problems of IPTV platform, IP bearer network and terminal), so that they can handle the faults themselves in the first time or report the faults to the relevant responsible departments for the first time handle.
2) For the difficult faults that can be fixed and reproduced, the installer and maintenance personnel can easily grab the data by one key, and upload the KPI index and the grabbing data to the PDA central management platform, so that the higher maintenance department can do further fault location analysis for the grabbing data.
3) For occasional and difficult faults (such as the occasional, random occurrence of Carton and Mosaic phenomenon), it is likely that the problem can not be reproduced in a short time when the installation and maintenance personnel come to the door. In order to deal with this difficult problem, the PDA device can be left on the user’s home network for a period of time (e.g. 24 hours), and long-term testing and fault-triggered packet grabbing can be started, so that when the installer and maintenance personnel go to the user site again to retrieve the PDA device, the device has recorded the original packet grabbing data of the fault point, only the packet grabbing data is needed. The problem can be solved through analysis.
In addition, the EVA-PDA system will be docked with the work order system of Shanghai Telecom in this project. The installation and maintenance personnel can start the EVA-PDA software conveniently from the work order App software of PDA, and transfer the relevant work order information (such as work order number, user line and network equipment information) to the EVA-PDA system automatically, so as to be convenient. IPTV, OTT test data with the same order information docking, further improve the Shanghai Telecom ITV troubleshooting process.
